Túlio Rosa (Sombrio, Brasil, 1989)
Performer and coreographer. Live and produces in Madrid, Spain. Master in Performing Arts and Visual Culture – University Castilla-La Mancha/ Reina Sofia Museum/ Artea (Madrid, 2016). Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Dance – Angel Vianna Dance School (Rio de Janeiro, 2011).
Works as an independent artist since 2009. In 2012 he received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of Brazil to develop the research Eu vírgula você e eu in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. Since then, he had the opportunity to work in different countries, and did several residencies in Brazil and abroad, in spaces as Barda del Desierto (Patagonia Argentina), CICO – Center for Choreographic Research (Mexico City), La Poderosa (Barcelona, Spain), Azala (Basque Country), ACSL (Yerevan, Armenia) Club Cultural Matienzo (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Hosek Contemporary (Berlin, Germany), among others. His work has addressed gender issues, traditional notions of authorship and artwork, and aspects of social criticism and activism.
In his trajectory he also collaborated with choreographers such as Luís Garay and Diego Bianchi (Argentina), Ana Borralho and João Galante (Portugal), and Giselda Fernandes (Brazil). Since 2014 he collaborates with Marcelo Evelin/Demolition Inc. in the performance Suddenly everywhere is black with people, already presented in more than 17 countries in South America, Europe and Asia.
In the last years he has been connected to the research programs organized by Artea in Madrid, such as the Master in Performing Practices and Visual Culture (Museo Reina Sofia / Universidad Castilla-La Mancha 2015-16) and the research program Expanded Theatricalities – Bodies and Democracy (Matadero Madrid, 2016-17).
Since 2015 he is developing the research-based project Experiments for a non submissive body, based on the relations between the body and the images of violence that circulates through media, and on the notions of resistance and insubmission. In this frame, he had collaborate with more than 30 artists in different moments of the research, and performed in Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Mexico and Uruguay.
Here and Elsewhere, his last project, was created with the support of Hosek Contemporary (Berlin), and performed in Berlin at Hosek Contemporary, in Yerevan at Armenian Center for Experimental Art, and in Buenos Aires at Club Cultural Matienzo
